Diving in the Mediterranean Sea II

Again, at Nisos like the previous post [Diving in the Mediterranean Sea]. I spend 3 days under the water. 7 long dives that i enjoyed, at the Arc, Garbi, Embarcadero….. I try to improve my diving trim and buoyancy… and loose some kg 😛

I did this travel with some friends (Patri and Çagla (and her parents, a lovely couple)), i always manage to enrole people.

The first day i had a warm welcome by the Nisos team (Jose, Jessy, Fer, Sussi, Dani, Javi…). I mounted my equipment and tho the water. The first 3 dives the dive master was Dani and my mate, i could not remember the name… was a nice guy. We saw lots of life i was amazed when we saw 2 big Mantelinas [Gymnura altavela] (2 meters wide), they were at the top of a rock surrounded by amazed dives… they were so good ‎camouflaged that i almost step one :P.

After 3  consecutive dives (from 9:30 to 17:00) my body was quite exhausted, so i spend the rest of the day resting.

The next day is a bit more softer just 2 dives with my mate Fernando (an Asturian guy from Oviedo) we saw a few octopus, nudibranch, muraenas lots of sea life. At evening after a quick meal i ended in Valencia for some site seeing and remebering old lifes.

The next day im more than very exhauted but looks like the sea heals me i dive with Susi as dive master Fernando, as my mate, and Patri and Çagla. Fer and I left Patry and Çagla do their opening program exercises, we follow the rift on our left side for 20 min or so. We see a few muraenas, and octopus i try to play with them but they feel scared about me… so i left them alone. The next dive i dive with again with Susi, Patri an Çagla and a british fellaw open as well. Its a short dive for them just 30 min. But i dive again with Susi and spend 30 more minutes seing the sea life…. We all saw a Dactylopterus volitans what a surpriseb.

For the last dive i go with Susi as dive master, i feel confortable with her. I choose a 10l bottel and 6+1 Kg i find very light “como no llevara nada“.

Its hard to end the weekend, i had a wonderfull time. CU Nisos!

Mallorca 2016

Once again im visiting this rock in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s the third time many years ago and lives from the last time…

The arrival was straight forward and without any issues, the hostess was lovely and talkative, soon she introduced us Kati a biker who bike all over the world, was a nice chat..

After a fast meal in a restaurant close to the apartment some shopping and a nap. Lets go to discover the island. The fist goal is a beach “Ses Covetes”, a naked swim and fast (the water stinks, to much people?) under the twightlight sun and next a wonderful live music session at the “Sembat”. Good Jazz + Cante Jondo + Dancing with Frontera Azul, i liked it a lot. Then we had dinner in Monturi at ‘S’Hostal‘. Then snoring like a warhog.

The day is sunny, the plan is visiting little coves. We face cala S’ Almunia. Its full of people and a bit noisy, but the water is crystalline with no steams and full of fishes. I found a Cotylorhiza tuberculata y play with it (i know its harmless). I keep swimming till AUCH!!!!!! it hurts/burns, i hit a Pelagia Noctiluca, i did not notice that i swam straight to a bunch of them. I just keep swimming more carefully and avoiding the zones with conglomeration of leaves, weeds, dust… A little nap under a stone… one more swam and let’s go dinner with people from other lives. We had good dinner and long chat…  Then go to sleep its late.

The next day is a bit more clouded we aim Cala Pi, too crowded and the water stinks, but has a good view to take some pics…. we walked 10 minute close tho the cliffs and reached Cala Beltran, another naked swim. The water is fresher and crystalline there are many fishes and 2 sailboats i swim towards them, but i feel some streams, so better come back to safer zones :). After a delicious meal and a little nap i started watching the life of the cove… fishes, medusas, an octopus??. Yeah a medium-sized rock octopus at 1 meter from the shore… i kept watching it for a few minutes,  i like how they move. Then vistit Valldemossa and have a nice dinner ath Celler Sa Sini.

The next day we hired a bike and did a route from Campos -> Sa Ràpita -> S’Estanyol… Its not too a long route but the bikes are hard and the sun is hard… We rest at S’Estanyol beach close to the lighthouse. Later on we were told that there was a famous chiringuito close, but we could not find it or it was closed 🙁

Today im diving at PortoColom, lets see if i see some mermaids. The staff is super they were very kind  (Mido, Agnes and Toni). The dive is going to Cala Sanau, and the profile is easy to understand… Get into a cave of (25x7x3) at 7m depth, then follow the cliff on my right shoulder, reach a few big stones and an arch. Its my first cave… there are not too much life but there are lots of rock formations, stalactites, stalagmites columns. We saw some little fished and at the front as we were going out a few Scorpaena scrofa some clueless Cuttlefish. The ground is muddy i try to follow the movements of the guide (Agnes), i try to be soft and gentle moving (i tried :P). Just as we leave the cave we are surrounded by banks of fishes, looks like they are welcoming us a lone Barracuda follows us in the distance for a few moments, then it disappears as it appeared, after 65 of calm diving we reached the extraction point. I thought i was going to see more life. The Mediterranean sea in this zone looks dirty 🙁

After a meal and a swim we went to Artá for sight seeing.

The next day we spend it all doing a bike green route from Artá to Cala Millor. The route is cute but Cala Millor i did not like it at all.

It has been a blitz travel its a pity, but i liked it a lot, i knew a bit more from this zone of the world.

Cu Again!!

Diving in the Mediterranean Sea

This summer i decided to do some diving with the fellas at Nisos. I managed a room in the center of Benidorm close to the school and spend a whole weekend diving 4 divings 2 per day.

The first 2 ones were with Javi for warming up and give me more confidence, thing that i need since the failed night diving at the Cantabric Sea. Good visibility and some life, i remember playing with an octopus for a while ^_ ^. And having a paella with the diving mates 😛 thats important as well!

The third one was probably the best ever Mary the diving guide is a very very veteran diver, who know many many tricks. I remember be the whole dive with a shoal as if we were part of if. See lots of life muarenas, octopous…

The four was with Jessy as always a great dive.

Scuba diving baptism

20140824_002Yuju!!!

A new frontier reached, this time i reached the land of Poseidon or Neptune. I did my baptism as a scuba diver on the Mediterranean Sea with Nisos, (I wanna thank all the people on Nisos, they were great people and professionals, lots of kisses and hugs!!)

I really recommend the experience. For me it was like flying calmly watching, the sea life, the sea mountains, the sea art…

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures (yet) from the diving only a few taken at night.
